I’m starting to like Mumbai

Mumbai is growing on me. The transition from “I don’t like Mumbai too much” to “hey, this seems like a nice city” took about 2 days.

I still am not used to the humidity, but other than that – it’s been a really good 2 days here.

For starters, the people I’m working with have been warm and welcoming and their attitude has been quite positive in terms of getting things done and in general too.

Yesterday (Friday – 19th May), I went out for a run and found a nice park, about 2kms from where I’m living, where I could peacefully run. The only issue is that I’m still not used to the humidity, I felt dehydrated after running for 2.7 kms and decided to cut short the run and walk back. Even so, it was quite a nice experience running in Mumbai.

This morning (Saturday 20th May), I headed out for a ride with a group of absolutely incredible people. We meet up at Powai and cycled to Arey colony which is a gorgeous forest route. Even though the ride was short, it was still beautiful and the company made it even better.

As I said in my last post, I feel really lucky. Disha (I rode with her from Delhi to Amritsar a couple of months ago) happily lent me her bike for the duration of my stay in Mumbai. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to pick up the bike as I wasn’t sure of the parking situation at the place I’m staying at and I didn’t want to leave it at an unsecured location. Thanks Disha :)

Coming back to this morning. Sabyasachi (he is joining the Manali Leh MTB expedition – August 2017) happily got me a bike for the ride – a sexy beast of a 29er which I thoroughly enjoyed riding.

Clifford – August 2017 Manali Leh joined in and he got delicious banana and mango fruit salad which after an hour or riding was such a delight. Just the perfect thing we needed at that point.

Ashay is a Manali Leh (August 2016) batch veteran who joined us and got his friend along.

Catching up with all these folks was just such a good start to the day.

I’m looking forward to a lot more riding with all of you very soon folks.
And yes, Mumbai is definitely growing on me :)
