I’ve never been a fan of coffee. Even so, coffee has been a part of my growing up years. This was a time in life when my parents were traveling for a long time. In that time, mama was taking care of us. And what a fun time that was.
The most fun part was the midnight snacks. Ever so often, mama would wake up in the middle of the night to try cooking something new. By the time he would finish with his magic, he would wake us up. As soon as we would wake up, didi would help mama make coffee and I would sit on the kitchen slab giving them moral support. I don’t remember how he made it, but I do remember that there used to be 4 different color layers in the glass. Even though I wasn’t a fan of coffee, this one had a certain place in my heart. I remember mine used to be just the way I liked it – slightly sweet and mild. Amidst all the stories, yummy food and coffee, a few hours would pass and then we would finally sleep.
And, the next morning, I would miss my school bus! I think I missed it at least a couple of times a week. I’ll just blame the 4 layered coffee!
